Aatoth Franyo (Hungary)
Hungarian born painter Franyo Aatoth lives in Paris and in Rairakhdhammatchart (Thailand). He also creates graphic art works.
Thanks to his friendship with Victor Vasarely and his son, Yvaral, he collaborated with the sculptor Ervin Patkaï for 5 years. He created numerous visual works for ARTE channel and for the renowned French Rock group “Noir Désir”. He wrote “Le petit Ivre rouge “ (The Dictionary of the traveling barflies) in 18 languages and released several editions between 2000 and 2011. He actively engages in artistic creation and his works have a widespread international exposure. Franyo featured in exhibitions in Europe, America and Asia, with solo shows in Paris, Budapest, Chicago, München, Canton - Republic of China, Ulaanbaatar – Mongolia, etc. What struck me the most after meeting Franyo is his ability to convert objects into entertaining and colourful works of art. I obviously like the glasses he customised for me very much, but I also enjoy listening to his loud and warm voice while he sings at dinners at club 55Bellechasse.
When I first visited his Parisian studio, a modern city house in Paris, I wasn’t surprised to smell fresh painting nor to see shelves plenty of books, catalogs about his past exhibitions and works on great masters of all times and places.
Even though he settled in France years ago, Franyo is, indeed, a born traveller. He navigates through Asia for months every year to work and find new ideas near open water. He permanently revitalizes his sources of inspiration and share them with us through new art pieces, some of which you will have the chance to see during this solo show. Don’t miss it: Franyo is both a great master and a very humane individual.
