Doichita Giotto (Romania)

Born in 1977 in Arad, where he lives and works.

He graduated from the Department of Arts in Timisoara. He participated in several group exhibitions in Romania, Hungary, Germany and art fairs like Solo Project Basel, Kunst Zurich. He was awarded with the Excellence Prize by the Arad Cetate Club in 2007 and the Prize in Painting by the Arad Branch of The Romanian Plastic Artists’ Union in 2008. His works were presented in solo exhibitions at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Szeged (Hungary), the Nota Bene Gallery in Montreal, the Art Museum in Arad, the Studio 73 Gallery , Litle Gallery in Prague 5 and the Delta National Gallery in Arad . 

It is a type of painting where two plastic formulae coexist, complementing and supporting each other, and sometimes lending each other’s values. A contrast is created between the free, gestural, informal and the concrete, sometimes folk-inspired. It is an abstract contrast, lyrical, intuitive, expressive, based on an automatic dictation and a rational one, with concrete, clear, geometrical forms…
