Laurie Raskin is a Los Angeles-based artist who creates mixed media works on paper using mono-prints, paint and collage. Her art is highly collected around the world and has appeared in numerous galleries and Art Fairs internationally. Her work is also featured in Luxury Hotels and public spaces around the world. In 2017, she collaborated with Didden and Co. in Belgium to create a designer carpet line. The carpets debuted at the Cube Art Fair in Brussels October 2017 and also appeared in a 2 page feature in Paris Match the same time. She has also been featured in British Vogue and London Lux as well as multiple publications worldwide. In 1984, she was one of 12 artists chosen to create the Signature Series poster for the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In May 2012 she was the featured cover artist at Saatchi Art "From The Studio Of" and has appeared in dozens of their curated collections. In 2015 her art was licensed by Art On Fashion in the UK for their spring line. Over 100 murals of her art have appeared in stores in Southern California. Laurie is currently represented by galleries in Los Angeles, Brussels, Paris, Miami and Las Vegas.
“I work primarily from my own photographs and extensive collection of vintage magazines, books and postcards. I take existing images which I copy and then cut to create new works. I like to paint and overlap negative spapes. My graphic design background informs much of my visual vocabulary. I also find much of my inspiration from my Southern California background and the mid-century architecture and design that I grew up. I am also influenced by the Bauhaus, Russian Constructivism and the great Art Movements of the 20th Century. Through all of these influences, I explore, play and create a language of past and present."
